Know The Process Of SLA And How To Choose The Best Company!

2018-02-02 16:48:57

SLA, which stands for Stereo-lithography is one of the many types of three-dimensional printing. It can be described as the manufacturing process which helps to create models according to the specifications and requirements of the client. Models or prototypes created through this method are replicas of the original idea.

SLA models can be created in a number of sizes and variety of other specifications. Stereo-lithography is also known as optical fabrication, photo solidification or solid imaging. It is also the most common plus extensively used methods of rapid manufacturing or prototyping. Stereo-lithography or SLA creates solid three dimensional objects and 3D parts with excellent precision and high-quality surface finish.

The time to manufacture or create an object using SLA varies on the basis of the size and technicality and complexity of the model or prototypes. It may be completed within hours or it may take a whole day or longer pertaining to the complexity and size of the model. The machines that create SLA prototypes are called Stereo-lithography Apparatus.

In the beginning prototypes or models created through SLA, techniques were rather delicate and required a lot of care. But now Stereo-lithography has passed through a number of significant transformations and prototypes created using SLA are now tougher and stronger. Due to these transformations, many manufacturing companies are turning to SLA to meet their production needs.

What is the Process of Stereo-lithography?

In the process of SLA or Stereo-lithography, a computer program is generated. It creates a 3D file of the model that is then divided into successive layers. Once the design is complete and the support structures are also added, this 3D file or program is taken to a Stereo-lithography machine for printing.

This machine uses UV laser beam and draws the first layer on a VAT of UV liquid resin. When exposed to the laser beams the resin cures. After the completion of the first layer, the printing platform lowers itself by 0.05 to 0.15 millimetre and the laser traces the next layer by curing the resin and connects it to the earlier layer.

The process goes on and layer after layer is created until we get a prototype created in the resin. Now the machine lets the extra resin drain away. The technicians remove the support structures and also wash the model. Now the model is ready to be painted according to the requirements of the clients. SLA or Stereo-lithography is faster and cost-effective as compared to other methods of creating prototypes.

There are numerous renowned companies claiming of offering the best solutions and support. They have a team of professionals who leave no stone unturned in offering the best rapid prototyping services. They also have the detection equipment making them have the ability to use a variety of processing means to endow with a wide range of application. These companies also endow you with technical support and possible to complete set of prototype services.
